Why do we blog?

Are we addicted to the keystrokes? Do we live for the fame? Do we just want someone to hear our voice?

Phone. Coffee. Glasses. Ruler. Ready Set Blog!

Everyday thousands of blogpost get published to the world wide web. Many of the post, like this one are just a blip on the radar. So why do we do it?

We are human in need of self-expression. You ever have something happen to you where you just couldn’t wait to tell your family and friends? Blogs allow us to freely express our innermost thoughts and ideas with the world.  A safe place to truly reveal a sense of self without fear. An outlet for all our stories, thoughts and emotions. The act of self-expression empowers us to live freely and fully.

Blogging can be seen as a form of reflection. A time and space where one can unwind, and revisit experiences. Reflecting on experiences allows us to have a more clear sense of self. Think of reflection as water. When you reflect you get a picture of your own thoughts and ideas. A sense of where you stand. As time passes the experiences you go through mixes with the water. The water becomes muddied, distorted, unclear. Only through taking the time to reflect is when we are able to filter out what truly matters.

Can you see me now?

Have a message to share. Some bloggers are filled to the brim with life, joy and happiness. Their message comes out naturally as if they were flowers in full bloom. Spreading their radiance to all those that may happen to see.

To create. A blog is a free space. A blank canvas. It starts to breathe life only after one puts the time and effort. Reward  in terms of materialism may be little to none. The real gem is the sense of joy from the act of creation.

Me and My Blog. Nothing else matters.

For others blogging may simply be a hobby that brings them happiness. Maybe once as a child they loved to read. When they were first asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?” The child would answer “A writer”. A forgotten dream cast to the side until now.

  1. Nice post. Blogging can be a funny old business, it’s good to take time to reflect in why and what we get out of it.

  2. I feel like I have a lot of mixed feelings about a lot of different areas of my life. I am liking trying to express these feelings, honestly and without worry of judgement. I also am hoping to help the odd person, especially in the area of body image and eating disorders. I have some stories to tell and blogging is the best way for me to get my voice heard, right now. Your article is well written and helpful. I can relate to it. Thank you.

  14. Loved this post – I just started blogging as a way to join all the people we’ve met while traveling. I gamed for a dozen years before taking a couple year sabbatical from the internet, news, and the world in general. We are now playing the game of “Real Life” and finding out the real world is much more united than what the media, politicians, and status quo would like us to believe.

  26. Since I was 4 years old and I learned how to write and spell words, I limited myself to the communication through writing. Even If I would’ve broken a glass, I wrote a letter to my mother. Maybe I couldn’t face it. I wasnt brave enough to express by actually speaking to them. Till now, I had loads of things to tell, all I wanted was to be understood and to be listened. 2 days ago, I started writing something in my notes and made a blog where I could post it, and I actually feel so light and content..like yeah! Somebody read that amd somebody listened that!

    PS. Great Post.
PSS. Do read my posts whenever you find time and correcting me where you could, would really appreciate me 🙂 thankyouu
