XPN SUNDAY POW WOW! [ Q&A + Share your blog ]

Hey everyone! We’d like to start a new project for XP Nuggets! Every Sunday we will have a question(s) of the week! I know many of us are trying to grow their blog and meet other bloggers so along with the Question(s) of the week, We encourage everyone to answer the question(s) and share their blog! Promote yourself, others and have fun doing so!

Everyone wins =)

[ Disclaimer: Comments that only share their blog will be deleted! ]

This is one way I can think of to give back to the amazing community that kickstarted the whole writing creativity process in me.

So let’s give it a go! I’ll start!

How long have you been blogging and why did you start?

Three months! Why? Hrm…A friend suggested I blog about my flea marketing adventures so I gave it a go!

What is one thing you do daily/weekly that makes life easier for you?

Writing in my pocket mod.  Its a planner made from a single sheet of paper.  I plan out my day and week with it. Seven days for each pocket mod. Helps me stay focused. I tend to space out and forget what I was doing/gonna do/need to do.

What is one question you would like to see next week? ( Wink Wink 😉 )

( I’ll save my answer for next week xD )

  1. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?

I started blogging four months ago so that my friends and family could keep up with me while I’m on the road climbing.

What is one thing you do daily/weekly that makes life easier for you?

When I’m at home, in San Diego, I go to the local crag and do a 26 pitch free solo circuit that really keeps me from getting stir crazy. Keeps me sane and content when I’m home.

What is one question you would like to see next week?

Do you write your posts with an average word cap? Are there exceptions to that rule? Why?

  2. Excellent idea! I look forward to learning more about others.

How long have you been blogging and why did you start?

My first blog (www.aviationguy.com) started about six years ago with varying levels of commitment. I started it because I love airplanes and I love talking about them. I just wanted to share my voice in the industry.

My brother started the second blog I write on (www.crashdad.com) a few years back, and he is a professional. I do that one mostly because I miss my brother and wanted to feel connected to him.

My third blog (www.mydailygratitudespace.wordpress.com) is a completely selfish endeavor to force myself to find more gratitude in life. I spend too much time complaining and I wanted to work on that.

What is one thing you do daily/weekly that makes life easier for you?

My daily gratitude has actually made a big difference in my life over the last two months. It helps me better view my life as a whole and prioritize better. I still have plenty to work on, but it has already made a difference.

What is one question you would like to see next week?

Other than great content, which is the basis of any blog worth reading, what is the one thing you have done that was most successful at spreading your message, i.e. increasing your readership?

    • Hey David,

Thats a neat mix of blogs you are involved with and it’s amazing how each one of them highlights whats important to you. Daily gratitude is life changing. Thanks for the reminder to be more grateful!

  3. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?

I started blogging in 2006 or 2007 on multiply.com (this platform eventually crumbled, and now the domain is something completely different). I started because I like to write, and because I sometimes like to express strong opinions that the people in my everyday life may not want to hear or would probably be bored with hearing. I had no other purpose or direction in mind. I jumped the multiply ship in 2008 and have been on WordPress ever since for both my personal blog and my photography site/blog.

What is one thing you do daily/weekly that makes life easier for you?

I put pen to paper and write in a journal. I pour out feelings, plans, ideas, schedules … just about anything in my head. How does this make life easier for me? It’s a way to get things out of my head so I can focus on what needs to be done in my life. It also brings clarity if I happen to be stuck on a decision I need to make.

What is one question you would like to see next week?

How and when do you make time for writing?

    • Hi Sheila,

Thanks for sharing. Wow you’ve been blogging for about nine years now? You’ve said you love writing but has there been any points where you found yourself wanting to stop? I like your idea of using a journal for a frame of reference. Its interesting to see how your thoughts develop over time.

      • Yes, a lot! It’s not about gaining followers or likes for me, but the lack of them does make me wonder why I keep blogging . I sometimes go for months without blogging when life takes over, but I always find my way back.

  4. This is a great thing to do, really appreciate it! Thanks!

How long have you been blogging and why did you start?

Roughly four months at this point – feels much longer! It was honestly a thing I’ve always wanted to delve into but I wanted to really prepare myself i.e. plan and know exactly what I wanted it to be about, have a bunch of pieces as a backlog and just be super organised – which ended up dragging the process a whole lot. I got there in the end because I love writing, I absolutely love the platform and if a piece entertained or resonated with a complete stranger – seriously what’s better than that?

What is one thing you do daily/weekly that makes life easier for you?

I use my weekend to write 3-6 pieces to cover me for the following week or two and upload them as per my personal schedule. I work full-time so time management had to become a thing and I’ve managed to find my rhythm. It means putting aside a Saturday or sunday for this but there’s nothing more worth it than this passion project. So time management (as boring as it sounds).

What is one question you would like to see next week?

I’m a big old fan of deep and revealing questions so ‘what is your biggest regret?’

    Really enjoyed the qs btw.

  5. I did the same thing delaying the blog until the opportune time. And then one day I actually just started it without a single backlogged post! Now I just kinda roll with it, but always try to post at least twice a week. Looking forward to following your blog, and love the illustrations!

  6. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?

Not long, since about easter so thats 5 months. However, for the past month or so my blog has been a bit quiet as I’ve been away. Ive always really enjoyed baking and cooking and have always had this urge to blog about it but never really had the courage to. So one day I just thought why not and did it. I also like to write about anything I have on my mind that i want to share. Not just cooking and baking

What is one thing you do daily/weekly that makes life easier for you?

I always make sure I have thought of at least one post to write about per week and at least have a draft of it written up, so that I’m never out of ideas and have nothing to post.

What is one question you would like to see next week?

What is your favourite post to blog about?

    Thanks!

    • Hey cookingandcrumble! It’s great to read that you found the courage to start up and I hope you continue to do so.Yep for me originally this blog was going to be only flea marketing and it ended up something totally different. The draft idea is great its nice to always have something in the can – If you can find time to have 2-3 drafts even better.

  7. This is a really great post and thanks for following me. I may not have seen this if you didn’t.

How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
Blogging for around 8 years. Leading back to university for online purposes. Now I do so as part of my profession for a videogame/PC company. I started my own personal blog – outside of company interests, as I wanted to talk about other things that interest me. Feel free to follow me if it interest you. Thanks.

What is one thing you do daily/weekly that makes life easier for you?
Honestly, blogging on my personal blog. It’s a major part of my life.

What is one question you would like to see next week? ( Wink Wink 😉 )
I’d like to be surprised. As I’ve only just followed this blog I’d like to see what other kinds of topics it’s able to provide before I where to give my own take.

  8. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?

I’ve been blogging since about 2003 when I started writing movie reviews on a site called juice.box, since then I’ve bounced around a bunch with my most consistent stays being at the Philly Metro Blogs and IGN before they transferred to the WordPress platform. My stats on WordPress say that I’ve had my blog here since 2009 but I’ve only just started writing on it again in the last few months.

I started blogging because I like to voice my opinions on things and writing on the internet was the easiest way to get them out there and discuss.

What is one thing you do daily/weekly that makes life easier for you?

God, I wish I had an answer to this.

  10. 1.How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
I started blogging because i love writing and i though, why not share my crazy mind to the rest of the world…hahaha.
2.What is one thing you do daily/weekly that makes life easier for you?
I have a notepad in my phone, so if i get that random flash of inspo in my head, whether i have my journal or laptop with me or not, i just quickly get my phone out and spill all that’s dying to get out of my head.
3.What is one question you would like to see next week? ( Wink Wink 😉 )
Mine isn’t really an answer to that, since i’m a beginner blog, I just wanna thank you for liking my work.
